Crawford County is a county located in the U.S. state of Missouri, and determined by the U.S. Census Bureau to include the mean center of U.S. population in 1990.
In the county the population was spread out with 26.30% under the age of 18, 7.90% from 18 to 24, 26.90% from 25 to 44, 23.10% from 45 to 64, and 15.80% who were 65 years of age or older.
The median income for a household in the county was $30,860, and the median income for a family was $36,558.

Crawford was born in Amherst County, Virginia, but his family moved south to Appling County, Georgia when he was a boy.
Crawford soon became a respected and influential senator, and was elected president pro tempore in 1811.
Crawford was again a leading candidate for the Democratic-Republican presidential nomination in 1824, but a massive stroke in 1823 ended his chances.
