Crawford County was formed on October 18, 1820 and named for William H. Crawford who was United States Secretary of War in 1815.
In the county the population is spread out with 28.20% under the age of 18, 8.40% from 18 to 24, 29.30% from 25 to 44, 22.80% from 45 to 64, and 11.30% who are 65 years of age or older.
