A RESPONSE   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-14)
Credobaptism, on the other hand, with its aggressive and pervasive emphasis on what we must do prior to being baptized, can leave its adherents (especially new believers) with the impression, to one degree or another, that God responds to us, rather than the other way around.
Both altar calls and credobaptism are relatively modern developments that were not practiced for at least a thousand years in church history.
Credobaptism presents and perpetuates a weak view of the role of children in the church.

Believers Baptism - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Believer's baptism (also called credobaptism) is the Christian ritual of baptism as given only to adults and children who have made a declaration of faith in Jesus as their personal savior, because he died for their sins, and was resurrected by the power of God the Father.
Although Dedication often occurs at the same age as infant baptism, it is not considered a replacement for baptism.
Credobaptism is less prevalent in traditions which maintain that the corruption of original sin is present at birth and is sufficient guilt in the eyes of God to cause the child to be damned, should it die before baptism.

 Boar's Head Tavern:
IF the Bible were to teach, say, that baptized infants are saved, but unbaptized ones are lost (not saying paedobaptists teach this), then credobaptism would be a dangerous doctrine, as it would keep parents from baptizing their infants.
An unbaptized infant who died would be lost as a result of the false teaching of credobaptism.
I think anyone who believes the historic creeds would also agree that there are dangerous theological ideas, in the sense I am using the term "dangerous." Otherwise, we would have to say that the ECFs were wasting their time fighting heresies.

First, it should be noted that the examples of baptisms in the NT are just as consistent with a classically protestant doctrine of baptism such as the one I am defending as they are with credobaptism.
Secondly, the problem is not eliminated by credobaptism, for surely some people who have been baptized after making a public confession have later left the faith.
Suppose those same children were baptized at 8 or 9 (a standard age for credobaptism, I think) instead of in infancy.

Some historians have been reluctant to classify Hubmaier with the Anabaptists,3 due to his more "magisterial" views on the relationship of church and state.
Nonetheless, his support of credobaptism, his Zwinglian adversion to Catholic sacramentology, and his distrust of the Lutheran distinctive of sola fide make it difficult to classify him in any other way.
Hubmaier began as a sincere Catholic, studying theology at the University of Freiburg between 1503 and 1506, where he took John Eck as his academic advisor and studied in scholastics.

Baptizo — Home Page of the Largest Collection of Believers' Baptism (Immerison) Links on the Internet
Sacramentarian baptism is not supported by the New Testament, credobaptism is. Those who believe baptism is a symbol of spiritual realities are sacralists (be sure to check out the Definitions page of this site for pronunciations of words, as well as for fuller explanations) or credobaptists.
They call their baptism believers' baptism or credobaptism because they say a person must believe and confess before being receiving immersion, but they say that faith is not enough by itself to save a person, that baptism also has a part in saving the confessing person who so enters into this rite.
They also demonstrate quite well that the Bible demands credobaptism or believer's baptism; not just that one have faith, but that one actually be of the household of God (regenerated or born again) before he enters into baptism.

I will answer it by proposing a plausible explanation of how credobaptism could have developed as a result of deep reflection on the theological upheaval introduced by Christ.
So in short, I have a dual purpose: to provide a vibrant systematic synthesis of credobaptism with broader theological themes and to offer a plausible rationale for the shift in thinking of the early church away from infant circumcision toward believer baptism.
For the early church, credobaptism was the natural resolution of this tension.

Pedobaptism and credobaptism are position which bubble up from theological views and a more fundamental level of one’s theological system.
These answers entail, or at least imply, that credobaptism.
If, for example, the whole point of baptism is to publicly declare that an individual is a believer in Christ, then newborns should not be baptized because they don’t, as far as we can tell, believe in Christ (or anything else for that matter).

I note also that John Frame suggests -- in agreement with Richard Baxter -- that credobaptists should be tolerated in the churches and that credobaptist churches should be welcomed in otherwise paedobaptist denominations.
When a Baptist family comes in with a children who have not been baptized, those children -- and the poor, misled parents who brought them -- are to be treated as Christians.
In sum, though credobaptism is a distortion and an error, I do not think that it is grounds for exclusion from the People of God, either for the credobaptist parents, or for the children.

Note: The inner circle is shifted to the right enough that a portion of it is outside the outer circle in order that grace would be illustrated.

This might seem an argument for credobaptism; it may seem to imply that the sign should come after faith rather than before faith.
Up to this point we have seen that such a conception of the church runs contrary to the dual signification of both circumcision and baptism as signs of blessing and of curse.
Further, practically speaking, credobaptism does not effectively prevent unbelievers from receiving the covenant sign of baptism: spurious professions of faith are always possible.

Faith and response are present in both credobaptism (baptism of believers) and paedobaptism (baptism of infants), so the difference is one of focus on where the faith is at the time of baptism.
It is the belief that baptism upon personal profession of faith follows the biblical pattern that drives us to insist upon its adherance within our churches.
For those of us who see the church as consisting of those who have express faith in Christ as Lord and Savior, credobaptism becomes intimately tied with a Christian's conversion and admission into the church.

The Rejection of the  Baptism of Disciples Alone
The book is entitled “The Baptism of Disciples Alone: A Covenantal Argument for Credobaptism versus Paedo-Baptism.” In the “Preface” there are a number of problematic statements and assumptions.
So, without being hindered by external forms of Old Testament worship, Malone says, “The only instituted baptism in the New Testament by Christ and his apostles is Credobaptism: the baptism of disciples alone.”[10] Again, Malone cites no verse say, exactly, where Christ, or His Apostles, positively and explicitly states this.
Infant inclusion in the covenant in the New Testament is clearly articulated both by Christ, and by the Apostles, as well as Luke.
