Craters are the oldest common features found throughout the solar system [16], and in fact, the largest known crater in the system is known to be on the moon.
Craters on or partially in the terminator were not selected for observation, as the shadows near the terminator can change rapidly and appear deeper then they actually are.
Measuring the true depth of craters is increasingly difficult as one must make a determination between the measurement from the lunar surface to basin of the crater rather then the from the height of the crater rim.
From the 16th to 17th centuries the town produced a notable school of painters, including Girolamo Romanino and Boccaccio Boccacino, both of whom worked on the cathedral's frescoes.
Cremona's violins were highly acclaimed from the 16th to 18th centuries.
Cremona was the birthplace of the composer Claudio Monteverdi in 1567, the mathematician Guido Grandi in 1671, and the mathematician Eugenio Beltrami in 1835.
His work was translated into Latin by Gerard of Cremona in the 12th Century, and contributed to the rebirth of a mathematically-based astronomy in Christian Europe.
Four centuries later, Copernicus mentioned his indebtedness to Al-Zarqali and quoted him, in the book that gave new meanings to 'revolution,' De Revolutionibus Orbium Celestium.
Arzachel crater on the Moon is named after him.

ROBINSON LUNAR OBSERVATORY(Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-26)
At approximately 07:00 UT (2004/1/14) I noted what may have been a sunset lunar ray in the crater Fernelius using the 17" f/15 classical Cassegrain at the ASH Naylor Observatory.
Although it was quite cold and windy and the seeing was rather poor, I could see a very thin shaft of light at approximately 5 degrees east, 38 degrees south.
There was an illuminated wedge to the immediate south and another one in the adjoining crater Stoefler but I don't believe that either one of these were rays.
This formation is located to the southeast of Brianchon crater, and northeast of Cremonacrater.
The fine detail along the rim of this crater has been worn down by a history of lesser impacts, leaving only a round-edged depression in the surface.
By convention these features are identified on Lunar maps by placing the letter on the side of the crater mid-point that is closest to Lindblad crater.
The most southerly of the Cyclades, the island is a remnant of a volcanic crater that has been engulfed by the sea.
The golden age ended with the eruption of the volcano around 1510 B.C. The catastrophe turned the center of the island into a collapsed gigantic crater.
Firб (also Thera or Thira), the island’s capital, is perched on a 900-foot-high cliff overlooking the harbor and volcanic crater.

The southern area is dominated by a massive silhouette of the Quill, the crater of an extinct volcano.
The lush green rain forest vegetation within the crater contrasts with the gray ancient lava flow on its exterior, wending its way down to a golden-sanded beach.
