Cremona (crater) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Cremona is a lunar crater that is located long the north-northwestern limb of the Moon.
From the Earth this crater is viewed from the side, and the visibility is affected by libration effects.
Small craters lie across the north and northwestern rims, and the satellite crater 'Cremona L' is laid across the southern rim.

Pagan Astronomy Network - Lunar Crater Project
Craters are the oldest common features found throughout the solar system [16], and in fact, the largest known crater in the system is known to be on the moon.
Craters on or partially in the terminator were not selected for observation, as the shadows near the terminator can change rapidly and appear deeper then they actually are.
Measuring the true depth of craters is increasingly difficult as one must make a determination between the measurement from the lunar surface to basin of the crater rather then the from the height of the crater rim.

At approximately 07:00 UT (2004/1/14) I noted what may have been a sunset lunar ray in the crater Fernelius using the 17" f/15 classical Cassegrain at the ASH Naylor Observatory.
Although it was quite cold and windy and the seeing was rather poor, I could see a very thin shaft of light at approximately 5 degrees east, 38 degrees south.
There was an illuminated wedge to the immediate south and another one in the adjoining crater Stoefler but I don't believe that either one of these were rays.

This formation is located to the southeast of Brianchon crater, and northeast of Cremona crater.
The fine detail along the rim of this crater has been worn down by a history of lesser impacts, leaving only a round-edged depression in the surface.
By convention these features are identified on Lunar maps by placing the letter on the side of the crater mid-point that is closest to Lindblad crater.
