Creuse is a département in central France named after the Creuse River.
Creuse was one of the original 83 departments created during the French Revolution on March 4, 1790.
Creuse is part of the current region of Limousin and is surrounded by the departments of Corrèze, Haute-Vienne, Allier, Puy-de-Dôme, Cher, and Indre.

L'Anse Creuse Public Schools will ask voters to approve a $54- million bond issue in the June 10 school elections to fund almost five-dozen projects, including replacing library books and musical instruments, updating restrooms and replacing doors and windows.
In some cases, the projects are extensive, such as a new media center, a 25,000-square-foot addition to the Pankow Vocational and Technical Center and an expanded cafeteria for L'Anse Creuse High School North.

Prior to its inception in 1954, the high school aged students of what is now the L’Anse Creuse Public Schools district attended Mount Clemens High School on a tuition basis.
A local historian revealed that L’Anse Creuse was the French name for “Little Bay” or “Shallow Bay.” Additionally, L’Anse Creuse road used to run from the water’s edge back to Pontiac and served as the means for area farmers to transport their produce to the bay for sale along the water.
