This is the second consecutive year in which Australia have benefited from their dominance of both the Test and ODI tables on the April cut-off date, April 1, 2006.
Cricket Australia chief executive James Sutherland paid tribute to the performance of the Australian team and the administrative bodies that support the players off the field.
Australia's dominance of both Test and ODI cricket is marginally less convincing that it was 12 months ago -- their Test ranking is one point lower than in 2005 and their ODI ranking has dropped eight points over the year -- but they still retain a comfortable cushion in both the tables.
