Crime fiction - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Crime fiction is the genre of fiction that deals with crimes, their detection, criminals, and their motives.
Crime fiction began to be considered as a serious genre only around 1900.
Some of the crime novels generally regarded as the finest, including those which are regularly chosen by experts as belonging to the best 100 crime novels ever written (see bibliography), have been out of print ever since their first publication, which often dates back to the 1920s or 30s.

Crime Story was originally developed by director Kirk Wong and writer Teddy Chan as a vehicle for Jet Li, but when Li pulled out at the eleventh hour, the project was taken up by Jackie Chan.
Crime Story was shot back-to-back with Wong Jing's entertaining City Hunter, and marked a dramatic departure for Chan, being a gritty police thriller that traded the usual exuberant martial arts and comedic prat-falling for realistic violence and a stab at proper, expressive acting.
Crime Story is also beautifully shot by cinematographer Arthur Wong, especially during the night-time scenes, and the camerawork is often dizzying.

Crimes are particularly newsworthy if the facts of the case can be made to fit into several of Katz's categories at once.
For example, the Lindbergh kidnapping of the 1930's was dubbed "crime of the century." It had an infant as its victim, a national hero as the victim's parent, a German perpetrator (in a era of growing antiNazi sentiment), and charges that the state falsified evidence.
