Crime Story (TV series) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Crime Story was an NBC TV series co-produced by Michael Mann and Chuck Adamson.
Two famous rock and roll musicians of the past contributed to Crime Story: Del Shannon sang a revised version of his hit "Runaway" as the theme song, and Al Kooper was the series musical director.
The series was filmed on location in Chicago, Las Vegas, and Central America.

 TV
Looking back over the history of crime shows on television, the roots of the current "reality-based" cop shows are evident.
Crime shows over the decades of the 1960s and 1970s became more comic with the bad guys being fought by the likes of the Incredible Hulk, the Bionic Woman and the Six Million Dollar Man. Actual cop sitcoms developed in the 1970s as well: Barney Miller, Fish, and Holmes and Yoyo for example.
This overarching framework narrows the focus considerably of what will be chosen for the show, and ensures that the focus remains on street crime, on action filled and violent crimes which are not necessarily the greatest threat facing the American public but merely the most television worthy.

Crime Story was a valiant attempt by Miami Vice producer Michael Mann to present a compelling police drama series in a serialized fashion.
Introduced as a two-hour TV movie on September 18, 1986, the weekly, hour-long series was initially set in Chicago in 1963.
Although the ratings for Crime Story were mediocre, NBC had faith in the series and kept it alive for two years.

MMI Movie Review: Crime Story DVD
I came across this TV show once in the fall of 1987, it was shot like a movie, and had a style all its own, with a jazz beat soundtrack that kept routine scenes electric.
"Crime Story" told its cops and mobster story gangster style, brutal and grittier than anything on the television in the mid eighties.
Watching "Crime Story" now you can see how the development of the series struggled in the beginning with a mixed bag of production values varying from show to show.

Italian crime novels are, more than for most countries, divided into those written by Italians and the myriad of novels written by English, American, and other writers about Italy.
The Italian books that I've been reading lately include a very noir series by Massimo Carlotto, set in Padua and Venice, and Gianrico Carofiglio (set in the city of Bari, in the Puglia region--the heel of the boot of Italy).
One thing that I found particularly interesting in the plot and especially in the resolution of the story and in a very telling Author's Note at the end is what turns out to be an overarching theme of the book: Italian politics, and in particular prison politics.
