  Crisis
Crisis has evolved from 18xx railroad business games and therefore uses some of their traditional concepts but it can be played independently of its origin.
Since Crisis is too flexible and non-historical for a fixed underlying map and companies may start everywhere, balance is created by forcing the very early companies to connect to each other and by anti-syndicate laws for the stock market during the opening.
Crisis is a modern game with many innovations like a virtual, generic map, no general certificate or money limits, rounds instead of operating rounds and stock rounds, structure purchases, and signals but without some traditional elements like off-board connections, terrain difficulties, small cities, empty big cities, or privates.

CMHS Programs: Emergency Mental Health - Crisis Counseling and Mental Health Treatment
The goal of crisis counseling is to assist individuals in coping with the psychological aftermath of the disaster, mitigate additional stress or psychological harm, and to promote the development of understanding and coping strategies that individuals may be able to call upon in the future.
Training has proven to be a critical element of the program, particularly as it assists the crisis counselors in understanding the scope and boundaries of their roles as well as when it is appropriate to refer individuals to mental health treatment.
Are the crisis counseling staff able to perform an adequate assessment of this individual and assure that they can defend, in an adverse legal action, the appropriateness of crisis counseling as opposed to formal treatment, as the intervention of choice?

Factsheet - The IMF's Response to the Asian Crisis
The financial crisis that erupted in Asia in mid-1997 led to sharp declines in the currencies, stock markets, and other asset prices of a number of Asian countries (Figure 1); threatened these countries' financial systems; and disrupted their real economies, with large contractions in activity that created a human crisis alongside the financial one.
The crisis unfolded against the backdrop of several decades of outstanding economic performance in Asia, and the difficulties that the East Asian countries face are not primarily the result of macroeconomic imbalances.
After the crisis erupted in Thailand with a series of speculative attacks on the baht, contagion spread rapidly to other economies in the region that seemed vulnerable to an erosion of competitiveness after the devaluation of the baht or were perceived by investors to have similar financial or macroeconomic problems.

"Crisis," the Ontario, Canada quintet's third album, is the pinnacle of their efforts to date--it's a near-perfect album that slips up on a single unnecessary track and doesn't falter at any other point.
One of the better songs on "Crisis" lyrically, "We Are The Sound" discusses the younger generations and their everyday struggle for a voice.
"Crisis" is a fantastic release that didn't recieve the American reception that it should have, but Canadians are loving their hardcore band, and Alexisonfire has found great success there.

 danger + opportunity ≠ crisis
There is a widespread public misperception, particularly among the New Age sector, that the Chinese word for "crisis" is composed of elements that signify "danger" and "opportunity." I first encountered this curious specimen of oriental wisdom about ten years ago at an altitude of 35,000 feet sitting next to an American executive.
The explication of the Chinese word for crisis as made up of two components signifying danger and opportunity is due partly to wishful thinking, but mainly to a fundamental misunderstanding about how terms are formed in Mandarin and other Sinitic languages.
Those who purvey the doctrine that the Chinese word for "crisis" is composed of elements meaning "danger" and "opportunity" are engaging in a type of muddled thinking that is a danger to society, for it lulls people into welcoming crises as unstable situations from which they can benefit.

 Mid-Life Crisis: Recent Research
The term of "mid-life crisis" was originally coined by Jaques (1965) who claimed that people encounter a crisis as they realize their own mortality and a change in time frame from "time since birth" to "time left to live" (Shek, 1996).
Specifically, the mid-life crisis is often thought to include: worries about the future, inability to enjoy leisure time, a feeling that health is deteriorating, a negative evaluation of the marital relationship, a negative evaluation of work life, and stress arising from taking care of the elderly (Shek, 1996).
In a study conducted by Daniel Shek dealing with mid-life crisis in Chinese Men and Women, Levinson's theory of the presence of a mid-life crisis in middle aged men and women is argued.

A crisis, of course, is often in the eye of the elected.
The crisis, as Bush explains, is this: A decade or so from now the Social Security system will begin paying out more in benefits than it takes in payroll taxes because there will be higher percentage of older Americans than there is today.
The crisis, in effect, is not fixing the problem before it spreads out of control, according to Bush.
