Sanavia (Boxingtalk #4) won the title by split decision from Beyer back in June.
Beyer (Boxingtalk #11 coming in) can now claim to be a three-time world champion, although he has never faced either of the two men who have controlled the division for years, Joe Calzaghe and Sven Ottke.

Sanavia (33-1) shocked the German boxing world and handed Markus Beyer (29-2) the second loss of his career: the Italian challenger showed an excellent handspeed and landed a few clean shots out of his southpaw stance in the opening rounds.
Fellow southpaw Beyer had his moments during the bout but Sanavia was mentally ready for the clash and never gave up an inch despite fighting in his opponent's backyard.

Threw 84 punches per round (landed 21%) vs. southpaw Sanavia, who landed harder shots, throwing just 34 total punches per round, landing 42%, including 44% of his power shots.
Hakkar also threw 35 jabs per round before Sanavia was around eye in 5th round, wanted to quit after sixth round, not before rocking Hakkar several times.
