Herald Sun: De Marigny boots Italy to victory (archived)
De Marigny's faultless display with the boot - the conversion attempt apart - handed the hosts a crucial penalty 10 minutes from time - after a storming run from Cristian Stoica forced the Scots into an infringement - which edged them more than a converted try ahead of their ragged opponents at 17-9.
De Marigny had given the Italians an early lead with a crisply struck penalty from wide out on the left but the Scots drew level in the ninth minute as Chris Paterson slotted a penalty over after an infringement by the hosts scrum.
De Marigny, son of French aristocratic stock who moved to Mauritius, ensured that Italy wrapped up the match with another sweetly struck penalty three minutes from time leaving Kirwan hammering the desk in relief and satisfaction.

Telegraph Sport Dominguez blow for Italy
Although captain Alessandro Moscardi, scrum-half Alessandro Troncon, lock Carlo Checchinato and centre Cristian Stoica issued a statement on Sunday distancing themselves from reports of a players' mutiny, emotions are still running high as Italy seek only their second championship win in three years.
The withdrawal of the prolific Dominguez is the latest setback for the beleaguered Johnstone, who was given only a limited vote of confidence by the Italian Federation at the weekend when he was assured that his job will be safe until the end of this season's Six Nations Championship.
DIEGO DOMINGUEZ, reportedly the ringleader of a senior players' mutiny against coach Brad Johnstone, has had to withdraw from Italy's game against Wales on Saturday with a leg injury that he picked up playing for Stade Français at the weekend.

PATERSON'S BOOT SINKS ITALY: Sporting Life The Ashes Live, First Test, Lord's, England v Australia, King George Live at Newbury, Football, Racing, Cricket, Sports News, Live Scores & Resul
Italy coach John Kirwan chose to continue with Alessandro Troncon at scrum-half despite the return to fitness of former first-choice Paul Griffen while he also recalled the experienced Cristian Stoica at centre at the expense of Walter Pozzebon, and David dal Maso was given the unenviable task of replacing talismanic Mauro Bergamasco at flanker.
But De Marigny was having a forgettable day with his boot and luckily for Scotland the Parma man pulled his kick wide from 18m.
The return of Paterson's Edinburgh team-mate Simon Taylor, in for the injured Jason White at flanker, brought a much-needed touch of class to the host nation but it was the former who was the hero and Roland de Marigny the villain after missing a couple of decent kicking chances.

Scotland take their chances in win over Italy
Pez swerved, dummied and ran past would-be defenders before getting support from his centres Cristian Stoica and Andrea Masi, the latter throwing out a wildish pass to Mazzucato, who controlled the ball before speeding away to the tryline.
Their job, however, was not done, with the ball going left after some good work at the tackle and Sale flanker Jason White trotting over for the try, which Ross did not convert.
Scotland finally breached Italy’s defence on the 20-minute mark when they sent the ball down their backline, with good work from wings Simon Danielli and Chris Paterson - who replaced the injured Kenny Logan in the second minute of the game - taking the ball down the right-hand touchline.
