Crittenden County is a county located in the U.S. state of Arkansas.
Crittenden County was formed on October 22, 1825 and named for Robert Crittenden, the 1st Secretary of the Arkansas Territory.
In the county the population is spread out with 31.10% under the age of 18, 9.40% from 18 to 24, 29.10% from 25 to 44, 20.50% from 45 to 64, and 9.90% who are 65 years of age or older.

On September 27, 1993, the Crittenden County Circuit Courtheld a hearing regarding the issue of whether, in the light of the new act, the State of Arkansas or Crittenden County should be responsible for attorneys' fees and costs in the cases.
In its cross-appeal, Crittenden County argues that the circuit court erred when it held the county liable for payment of the defense costs, which amounted to $24,553.10 in the Echols and Baldwin case and $8,971.81 in the Misskelley case.
