Critters (film series) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-09-15)
The Critters film series is a series of four horror, science fiction, and comedy films from New Line Cinema.
One of the most famous aspects of the series is the alien creatures called "crites" (or "krites") with their ability to roll into balls (like hedgehogs) and combine into a larger ball.
The storyline for all four films involve two bounty hunters from outer space hunting extraterrestrial monsters in American suburban towns, except for the final film, which takes place on a space station.

In Critters, massive furry balls from another world with sharp teeth, an insatiable appetite and a bad attitude land in the small mid-western town of Grovers Bend, Kansas, where they bite, tear and attack everything in their path.
Critters stars Dee Wallace-Stone (ET the Extra-Terrestrial, The Frighteners), Billy Zane (Titanic), Scott Grimes (HBO’s Band of Brothers, Mystery, Alaska), M. Emmet Walsh (Snow Dogs) and is written and directed by Stephen Herek (Life or Something Like It, 101 Dalmatians), in his feature directing debut.
In the third film in the franchise, the fanged, furious furballs viciously invade a Los Angeles apartment building and sink their teeth into the low-rent tenants.

Box Office Prophets: Two Towers Review
The film series has its flaws, some of which originate in the novel; for all its breathtaking scope, Tolkien's work can be turgid and repetitive.
The technical showpiece of the film, of course, is Gollum, a computer-generated character based on the movements and expressions of actor Andy Serkis.
Serkis performed in a bodysuit studded with markers; he was then erased from the film, and replaced with a stylized version of himself as a grayish, depraved river hobbit.

Superior to its predecessor in every way, this lovely film does an exemplary job of conveying the manner in which the freedom and naivety of youth inevitably fall by the wayside, leaving only cherished memories, present regrets, and the rigor mortis of a future that can only be avoided by those willing to take risks.
The film is as much about this clan as about the camels, focusing on the people as they spin established folk tales, tend to their livestock, and rub shoulders with the modern world only when absolutely necessary (in one subplot, the youngest boy discovers television and becomes obsessed with it).
Still, for all its political pelting, this is at its most gripping when it simply focuses on the innocent people whose lives have been destroyed either by the heinous terrorists or by the abhorrent policies of this administration.

I may be ashamed to say this, but Critters has always entertained me. Any film of this age usually bares childhood memories, and seeing those fuzz balls tear up human beings again, made me remember that the 80s wasn't all bad.
The story (or what is used as an excuse to make the film), follows a batch of unhatched critter eggs, as they are mistaken for Easter eggs by the inhabitants of Grover's Bend.
Critters 2, surprisingly, seems to have the best transfer of the bunch, with very few examples of compression, and edge enhancement.

When the series begins she's secretly pining after her track coach, Amano, and finally works up the courage to tell him how she feels about him (after all, he's leaving to study abroad and this is probably her last chance).
Akari is the daughter of one such winner, and the series focuses on her growth as a character from a fairly insecure girl trying to live up to her mother's legend to a young woman who is able to succeed for her own happiness and pride, freeing herself from others' expectations of her.
In the manga series this transformed (and rather sinister-looking) version of Yugi challenges bullies and other unsavory people to rigged games where they generally end up with their minds trapped in nightmarish fantasy worlds to punish them for their bad acts (if that isn't a bit extreme and creepy, I don't know what is).

critters (called 'Crites' in the film) are positively disgusting enough to warrant a series of films chronicling their destruction.
That some may say the film series itself is only slightly less vile is another matter, though I will suggest that should a "Critters 5" ever appear, it absolutely must contain footage of the Crites consuming select rolls of film from earlier instalments.
"Critters" features a soundtrack by David Newman (son of Alfred, nephew of Lionel and Emil, brother to Thomas and Maria, and cousin to Randy) that appears to be a compromise; Mr.

In the Disney Boone films, the conflated narratives and a capitalist discourse together produce the visage of a monolithic power that is akin to 1950s Americanism, or the notion that America must fortify itself against insidious unAmerican sympathies that purpose to undermine the progressive history of a God-ordained, capitalist nation.
The series opens with a conversation between John Finley and Daniel Boone as they stand over their most recent kill, a bear that Finley says is fair in size compared to those in Kaintuck.
The films assert that before the theological and national narratives can inscribe, appropriate, and consume a Native history, commodities are exchanged and the sweets of capitalism are tasted in the wilderness.

Movie Review - Hukkle - eFilmCritic
HUKKLE is rather difficult to describe: the “plot” (yes, it has to be in quotes) is only a series of apparently disconnected scenes from rural life: a cat frolics in the grass, insects burrow through the dirt, an old man hiccups incessantly on his front porch.
An odd tone prevails, equal parts whimsy and dread, and eventually all the bits and pieces begin to coalesce: for some reason a lot of these critters, human and animal alike, are dying suddenly….
Beautifully shot and in all technical categories very accomplished for an Eastern European film, HUKKLE nonetheless proved to be a trying experience for the audience I viewed it with; more than a few people walked early.
