 Titans
In Greek mythology the offspring of Uranus and Gaia, of enormous size and strength and typical of lawlessness and the power of force.
They are usually listed as twelve (though Hesiod lists thirteen and Homer speaks of only two): six male (Coeus, Crius, Hyperion, Iapetus, Cronus and Oceanus) and six female (Mnemosyne, Phoebe, Rhea, Tethys, Thea and Themis).
The number is variously given by other writers, and their offspring were also called Titans, such as Atlas and Prometheus (sons of Iapetus and the ocean nymph Clymene), which makes an accurate count even harder.
