The oldest hooks that have been found in Denmark and Norway indicate that only after thousands of years were they equipped with barbs, grooves, bulges or holes to facilitate attachment of the bait and line.

The sizes of the hooks that I have been able to obtain, are F, G, H, I, J, K and and N. I do not know if you can still get the size N. The hooks are usually about 14" in length.
You follow the same general directions as for the basic afghan stitch working under the vertical bars of the stitches.
