Croft Backstop applies the brakes instantly and automatically - far more quickly than a driver's reaction time - the moment contact is made with any obstacle.
The CROFT BACKSTOP Touch Sensitive System is a device which automatically applies a vehicle's air brakes when the sensing element (the Rubber sensor) impacts an obstacle during normal reversing of the vehicle.
The rubber sensor consists of a sealed hollow extrusion, which is at atmospheric pressure, and when compressed causes a small change in pressure (0.05 psi, equivalent to a gentle nudge), which is sufficient to transmit a pressure pulse down a 4 mm nylon tube.
