Cromlech, krom'lek, an ancient Celtic place of burial.
Very frequently the cromlech shelters a burial urn or chamber, lined with stones and containing a skeleton, with weapons, pottery, and other indications that the dead were persons of rank.
These sepulchres are commonest in the territory last occupied by the Celts, as Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Cornwall, Devonshire, and Brittany; but they are found throughout England and many localities of the continent.

Cromlech, in many ways, follows the path of Dark Tranquillity’s Skydancer and In Flames’ Lunar Strain, where stunning music performed by stunning bands was home to obscure labels.
It’s important to note, Cromlech exists such nether regions of death and fl metal; too cunning to be obvious like Dark Funeral and Marduk and too scathing and distant to fit into the NWOSDM, Cromlech’s death/fl specter is unduly welcomed to hardened fans such as yours truly.
Cromlech unveil their affinity for melody here by interspersing lightening strikes of molten Swedish death (Dissection, Unanimated) with a level of axemanship more common in Dimension Zero and Naglfar, both of which at their most accessible still make In Flames sound a lot like Winger.

Good evidence has been brought forward that certain cromlechs were covered with harrows; in fact, that this was the case in many instances admits of no doubt, hut some perhaps were merely surrounded by circles of stones.
A cromlech at Caerwynen, in Cornwall, has three only, and it is well known that the frequent occurrence of this arrangement in some localities has caused certain antiquaries to class them under the name of triliths, though these are now generally considered to be the mere ruins of more complicated structures.
This cromlech is particularly worthy of notice, because it afforded proof that monuments of its class were sometimes buried under mounds.

It could be said that CROMLECH is a "supergroup" of sorts, with persons having been involved with EUCHARIST, ABLAZE MY SORROW, and even IN FLAMES (their session touring bassist Dick Löfgren).
The melodies, however, are not the standard 3rds and 5ths used by many of their peers, CROMLECH have found some very unorthodox, tension-building harmonies to paint their palettes with.
Shifting rhythms and meters are plentiful as well, along with large amounts of hyperspeed blast beats and tremolo-picked riffs, again highlighting that very "Swedish" quality to their sound.
