In the county, the population was spread out with 26.60% under the age of 18, 7.50% from 18 to 24, 25.50% from 25 to 44, 25.70% from 45 to 64, and 14.70% who were 65 years of age or older.
Crook County was formed from the southern part of Wasco County on October 24, 1882, and established Prineville as the county seat.
