  Crop Circle Theories - Crystalinks
Crop circles are areas of cereal or similar crops that have been systematically flattened to form various geometric patterns.
Crop circle hoaxers counter that it is easy to leave dry seed pods unbroken during stomping and also leave no trace of entrance and egress trampling when the plants and ground are both dry and some care is taken while walking.
Several crop circles, later to have been determined to be hoaxes, were at first certified as being 'genuine' by cerealogists due to the lack of seed pod breakage.

 How to Create Crop Marks
If you don’t know what crop marks are or what they are used for, you probably don’t need to be reading this article, but I'll begin with a brief explanation, anyway.
Crop marks are a pattern of lines indicating where to trim (crop) paper to a smaller document size.
Although many users refer to these as crop marks (as does the author of the Microsoft Knowledge Base article “Margin marks or crop marks appear on each corner of the page when you open a document in Word 2002 or in Word 2003”), they are not true crop marks, and they do not (ordinarily) print.

As crops begin to ripen in early Summer, the walls, pits, and ditches of past settlements affect the rate at which crops change color and also affect the speed and height to which they grow.
Crops growing over the buried remains of a wall will tend to be smaller since the wall encourages water to drain away from the soil, and root growth could be interrupted, and these are considered to be "negative" crop marks (Figure 2).
Soil marks are formed whenever a different soil is used to fill in a ditch or road, and this "filler" soil is different enough in composition to distinctly contrast with the in-situ soil (Figure 3).

Crop marks form because there can be noticeable variations in crop vigor, color, or height when crops or natural vegetation grows over buried walls or other cultural remains.
These are called 'negative' crop marks, as the crop is less vigorous due to the lack of moisture or root vigor caused by the buried walls.
The opposite are 'positive' crop marks, where the crops are taller or more virorous when growing over pits or postholes.

Crop marks indicate where a page will be cut (or trimmed) after printing.
When artwork is supposed to extend all the way to the edge of the printed page after cropping, it's common to use a "bleed." By extending the ink past the crop mark, you ensure that minor errors in registration or trimming don't produce an unsightly white line along the edge of the artwork.
When the page is printed, the crop marks will be moved inward the specified distance.
