The PBT for the financial year 2005 was Rs1,848.09 crore as against Rs1,444.87 crore in the previous year recording a growth of 28 per cent.
The consolidated PAT after considering an amount of Rs 490.62 crore (previous year Rs 530.77 crore) towards current and deferred tax, adjustment for share of minority interest and profit in associate companies was Rs 1,385.34 crore as against Rs 915.29 crore in the previous year, recording a growth of 51 per cent.

 AP budget: Tax-free, 238-crore deficit showed
A tax-free budget for 1998-’99 with a deficit of Rs 238.45 crore was presented by Minister for Finance and Legislative Affairs P Ashok Gajapathi Raju in the State Assembly on Friday.
Increasing the allocation for power sector from Rs 918 crore to Rs 921.28 crore, Raju said that overall plant load factor of all thermal power stations has improved from 77.34 per cent last year to 81.91 per cent during the current year, which was above the all-India average of 64.4 per cent.
The government also increased the budgetary outlay to Rs 428.79 crore for the next year from Rs 397.74 crore during current year for social welfare, since the main focus was on human resource development.

In accordance with the IRDA solvency norms, the state-owned insurer set aside Rs 3,500 crore (Rs 35 billion) of the surplus fund into the reserves as part of the contingency margin.
An additional Rs 3,000-4,000 crore (Rs 30-40 billion) would be provided this year as reserves from the surplus fund, Mathur indicated.
