Crosby, Stills and Nash: Album Reviews
Crosby, Stills and Nash were never particularly consistent, perpetually distracted by women (Nash famously remarked "Women are the most important thing in the world next to music"), imprisonment (Crosby for a couple of years during the 1980s) and drugs, but when they got their collective acts together their songwriting and harmonies were frequently sublime.
While the entire album is well written and executed, apart from ‘Love The One You’re With’ it’s not surprising that none of the other songs transcended the boundaries of the record; it’s more personal and less culturally significant than Crosby, Stills and Nash’s work.
Crosby contributes the typically relaxed 'Guinevere', and the aggressive 'Long Time Gone', while Nash displays his pop sensibilities in 'Marrakesh Express' and 'Pre Road Downs'.

The History of Rock Music. Stephen Stills: biography, discography, reviews, links
Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young recorded Human Highway (1974), but the album was never released.
Crosby Stills & Nash (Atlantic, may 1969) sounds like the laid-back, atmospheric and slightly psychedelic version of what the three had done with their respective bands.
Crosby, destroyed by drugs, wasn't even singing anymore on Daylight Again (Atlantic, 1982), whose relevant song is Nash's Wasted On The Way.

Crosby, Stills & Nash (and Young) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Crosby, Stills, and Nash (at times known as Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young) is a pioneering folk rock/rock supergroup that formed out of the remnants of three 1960s bands: Buffalo Springfield, the Byrds, and the Hollies.
Crosby, Stills and Nash (1969) was an immediate hit with several hit singles and rock radio tracks.
Crosby and Nash began recording as a duo while Stills and Young resumed their solo careers.

 Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young
Crosby and Nash only dented the Top 40 once as a duo, and it was with this record's single: "Immigration Man." Ethridge and Barbata were held over from Nash's preceding solo record, and there are tons of guests like Garcia, Lesh, and Kreutzmann from the Dead and Dave Mason.
Crosby and Nash's last studio project as a duo is another slick, upbeat soft rock album, self-produced and featuring the same Wind On The Water lineup (indeed, at least half the tracks were cut during that disc's 1975 sessions).
Crosby is nearly absent, and despite Stills' usual guitar solos and Latin pop and solo acoustic numbers ("(Got To Keep) Open"; "Haven't We Lost Enough?"), he frequently doesn't play a single note.

 CROSBY, STILLS & NASH
Stills and Nash, who had roped in (among others) Art Garfunkel to take Crosby's place, agreed, and Crosby recorded two new songs, added a couple of overdubs to the already finished tracks and co-produced the set.
Nash's songs here were weaker than on his own LP, with the exception of "Southbound Train", but Crosby came up with some more good melodies and the duo's harmonies ensured that even the weakest songs sounded significant.
Crosby and Nash parted, and although Nash managed to get a solo album ("Earth And Sky") released in 1980, it was totally ignored by the press.

 Crosby, Stills & Nash
A big hippie album is what's created - to some the 'ultimate hippie album' - mostly due to Crosby's and Nash's offerings.
Crosby's hippie anthem "Almost Cut My Hair" is notable for the sloppy and grungy guitar-work that I love so much, but the lyrics have admittedly dated badly, and the title track just doesn't work after that promising complex arrangement in the beginning fades away.
Crosby wrote this about his girlfriend who later died in a car accident.

 CSN WEBSITE Biography
Crosby, Stills and Nash, took note of the record (although the lead review that issue was a long paean to the Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band).
Crosby was born on August 14,1941 in Los Angeles and grew up as a headstrong kid in a showbiz family (his father Floyd was an Academy Award-winning cinematographer).
Crosby: "l have always felt that the main review is: 'did anybody feel good?' If there's an epitaph to be cut for this band, I don't think it's to be cut yet.

 Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young
Nash said they rehearsed roughly 40 songs with three other musicians: Drummer Steve Potts, bassist Donald "Duck" Dunn (both of whom played on the last CSNY tour) and keyboardist Booker T. The backing trio are also working on Young's upcoming solo album, Are You Passionate, tentatively due in stores March 26.
Nash estimates CSN&Y will wind up playing for about two-and-a-half hours, and he's not sure yet if his legs, which he broke recently in a boating accident in the waters off his Hawaiian home, will be able to withstand that amount of time upright.
Nash said the electric, then acoustic, then electric performance -- with a 20-minute intermission -- will include nine new songs from the latest CSNY album, Looking Forward, even though it didn't fly out of record stores.

David Crosby And Graham Nash Run For Presidency
Currently, they’re touring coast-to-coast with Crosby, Stills & Nash (through September 22), and no doubt the Party Party platform will be integrated into their on-the-road message.
Though new as co-Presidential contenders, Rock and Roll Hall of Famers David Crosby and Graham Nash are a longtime team whose official collaboration began with 1969’s self-titled Crosby, Stills & Nash album debut.
Crosby and Nash caught members of the media off guard at a press event earlier this month that was expected to be an official announcement of the release of their first album together as a duo in almost three decades.

 Crosby, Stills, Nash (and Young)
Nash is still reliably Nash, and seems to save himself from the worst of the production wrath, but he's back to felling songwriting pygmies ('Don't Say Goodbye', 'Clear Blue Skies', which is singlehandedly ruined by the 'panflute' synth-line plaguing it) rather than Nigerians ('Wasted On The Way').
Stills seems like he's singing lead on almost all the tracks, a mixed bag of bolts if I ever did see one, since his voice is aging and darkening into 'hoarse' territory, still acceptable in the studio, but onstage…yeesh.
Crosby's contributions are still about as indistinct as can be imagined, but he sounds engaged (and on 'Almost Cut My Hair', where he lets his 'freak flag fly' and rants about his hair and having the flu, he sounds frantic) and put a good deal of effort into the title track.

Crosby, Stills & Nash: Crosby, Stills & Nash (1969) Music Reviews - California - Hippyland
Stills' "Suite: Judy Blue Eyes" was dedicated to Judy Collins, who I believe Stills was dating her, if I'm not mistakened.
The two Nash recordings, "Marrakesh Express" and "Lady of the Island" was originally intended to be recorded with his old band The Hollies, but since that band would rather record an album of nothing but Bob Dylan songs at that time, Nash got pissed off, and left for CSN.

But when Crosby, Stills and Nash were at their peak through 1969 and 1970, few other groups could match their aura of effortless confidence.
Music historians consider 1969's Crosby, Stills and Nash, their debut album, to herald the beginning of the singer-songwriter era, but while it is a mellow, acoustic and personal, it is also an intricate studio creation, far less raw than something like Joni Mitchell's Blue.

Crosby is barely noticeable: on one track his voice seems to be totally shot ("Nighttime For The Generals," with a feeble Hendrix imitation by Stills), and the other is just weak ("Compass," a near-solo acoustic number).
Still, though, Crosby's experimental title track, with some strong acoustic work by Stills, does deliver his characteristic emotional power; Stills is as solidly commercial as ever (the folk song "4 + 20"); and the intentionally roughshod acid rock cover of Joni Mitchell's "Woodstock" surpasses her own version.

Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young @ Soundbug
Crosby, Stills & Nash - known by its initials CSN - (which eventually became Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young for a time) was a pioneering rock and roll band featuring David Crosby, Stephen Stills, Graham Nash and, later, Neil Young.
David Crosby (The Byrds), Graham Nash (The Hollies) and Stephen Stills (Buffalo Springfield) formed CSN in 1968 as a folk group.
Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young (CSNY) was a so-called supergroup, composed of members who had begun a musical career elsewhere.

 Crosby, Stills and Nash
Crosby, Stills and Nash, the three icons of thinking man's rock, seem to be swimming harder than ever against the current that is washing them onward, as their self-deprecating song "Wasted on the Way" would have it.
David Crosby of Crosby, Stills and Nash performed with bass and drums booming loudly, energetically and adroitly almost all night long.
Hoping for another such effect, Crosby brought along an Enron song, "They Want It All," lamenting the fact that no one is in jail so far.

 CROSBY, STILLS & NASH
Nash hurried to sever his ties with the Hollies and EMI; Crosby had been a free agent since leaving the Byrds and Columbia; and Stills was already with Atlantic which proved the obvious choice of label for the newly-formed trio.
Crosby was a fine guitarist, but hadn't enjoyed his brief period as bassist with the early Byrds; and Nash was an adequate guitarist and pianist.
Crosby had been recording a solo album, when he was joined by Stills fresh from his work on the "Super Session" album with Al Kooper.

The group was a second marriage for all the participants when it came together in 1968: Crosby had been a member of the Byrds, Nash was in the Hollies, and Stills had been part of Buffalo Springfield.
Crosby, Stills & Nash re-formed without Young in 1977 for the album CSN, another giant hit.
CSN followed with Live It Up in 1990, and though that album was a commercial disappointment, the trio remained a popular live act; it embarked on a 25th anniversary tour in the summer of 1994 and released a new album, After the Storm.

 Crosby, Stills & Nash
Stills' raging guitars licks on showcases like "Love the One You're With" and "Woodstock," where he won a fiery duel with Mike Finnigan's Hammond B3 by a hair, were a great counterpoint to the more acoustic-based inclinations of Crosby and Nash.
The Woodstock generation was out in full force as Crosby, Stills and Nash, defining icons from and for that era, performed a solid set rife with their trademark harmonies, self-deprecating verbal jabs and a blend of new songs mixed with classic favorites.
Crosby, Stills and Nash proved they still have a sweet sound during a concert at the Greek Theater.

 Rants
The album stiffed because of the muddy production by Mick Ronson and the fact that the band had already broken up by the time it was released.
I'm not talking some obscure, struggling local yokels who are dime a dozen, but rather artists with several accomplished albums under their belts and have played all around the world.
A longlist of 49 albums is chosen, which is later whittled down to a shortlist of 10 albums.

The first Crosby Stills and Nash album is intact elsewhere but minus four songs on Napster.
Adding to the confusion: Many releases are sold as "single song" purchases only, so consumers lose discount pricing for a one-click album purchase.
With 500,000 to 700,000 songs at the average digital download store, keeping up with the music library is "like playing whack-a-mole," concedes Laura Goldberg, Napster's chief operating officer.
