An interesting element of Crosby township's role in history is related to the pacifist beliefs of the Shakers and some of their neighbors.
New Haven was platted as a village by Joab Comstock in 1815.
There is also an elected township clerk, who serves a four-year term beginning on April 1 of the year after the election, which is held in November of the year before the presidential election.

ANTHONY KOCHER, of Harrison, Ohio, was born October 15, 1863, in Dearborn county, Ind., son of George and Mary (fultz) Kocher, the former born in Germany of French descent, the latter a native of Pennsylvania.
WILLIAM HENN, of Harrison, Hamilton county, was born April 1, 1855, in Baden, Germany, and is the son of Joseph and Catherine (Knodich) Henn, natives of Germany, the former of whom was born in 1814 and died January 1, 1890, the latter born in 1817.
JACOB BIDDINGER, of Harrison township, Hamilton county, was born December 19, 1838, in this county, son of Solomon and Catherine (Shroyer) Biddinger, the former of whom was a native of Fayette county, Penn., born in 1799, the latter born in 1800.

Green Township is a township located in west central Hamilton County, Ohio.
The township was originally held intact by John Cleves Symmes, with the apparent intent of naming it as the academy township for his purchase.
As of 1990, over 50% of the township's area has been was converted to urban use, largely as a suburb of Cincinnati; 38% is classed as forrested, and 11% as farmland.

According to several accounts he settled in Harrison Township; the tax duplicate of Hamilton County for 1810 indicates, however, that he was paying taxes on 157 acres in Crosby Township, but there is no entry for that year in Harrison Town- ship.
He soon became widely known and respected, for he was elected to the Ohio House of Representatives in 1807 and thereafter represented Hamilton County in the house in the six, seventh, and eighth general assemblies (1807-9) and in the senate in the ninth, tenth, and twelfth through the fifteenth (1810-12, 1813-17).
He remained in the senate until 1817 and then returned to Hamilton County, where in the same year he was made one of the associate judges of the court of common pleas, serving until 1824.

CROSBY TOWNSHIP was erected in 1804 from territory originally included in Whitewater.
It is bounded on the north by Butler county, on the east by Colerain township, on the south by Miami township, and on the west by Harrison township.
The largest land purchase in the township, when it was first opened to settlement, was made by Jeremiah Butterfield and five associates, viz., Asa Harvey, Noah Willey, Knowles and Alvin Shaw, and Esquire Shaw, the father of the two last named.

 History of the James Merrill Family
Through analysis of census records in Kansas in Cherokee, Woodson and Coffey Counties, I found William Merrill on the 1880 Census(showing a birth location of Illinois) as the eldest child of Israel Merrill (born in Ohio) and Sarah Bibee Merrill (born in Tennessee).
With the 1880 Census showing that Israel had been born in Ohio, I located he and the rest of his family on the 1850 United States Census for Hamilton County Ohio, in Harrison Township.
She was born April 01, 1818 in Crosby Township, Hamilton County Ohio, and died June 06, 1905 in Harrison Township, Hamilton County Ohio.

When he was fourteen years of age, he came with is uncle, Joseph Wakefield, to McLean County, Illinois.
Nathan Low was born on a farm called Ringold's Manor, in Greenbrier County, Maryland, near Williamsport, January 6, 1791.

While the popular culture of the time frame we dig in has been well recorded and is available for study, we find that by displaying the bottles and artifacts within the region in which they were found, we are able to bring history alive for so many of our neighbors.
My own personal bottle and artifact display is at the Crosby Township, Hamilton County Ohio Civic Center.
There are many people who have never seen bottles this old and most find it very interesting.

The first book is Good Old Times in McLean County while the name of the second book is unknown.
Some of the facts may be correct, although some are inconsistant.
Family history says that Andrew W. Scogin and Elizabeth Karr had an unnamed child, that Elizabeth died from complications of childbirth, and that the child did not survive.
