Most of the northern Lower Peninsula got enough snow this week for cross-country skiers to set their own tracks in places that didn't get enough for machine grooming, and much of the UP got 12-18 inches of fresh snow.
In addition to the groomed trails, where the tracks are laid by machines, cross-country skiing is available at dozens of other DNR sites where the skiers break trail or follow in the tracks of people who have gone before.
