Crossbow (video game) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Crossbow was a video arcade game first released by Exidy in 1983.
It is the first game with fully digitized sound and graphics (previously games featured only pre-recorded cassette playback of realistic sound).
The first title to be worked by MHS is Crossbow, the first game with fully digitized sound and graphics (previous games featured only pre-recorded cassette tape based sounds sound).

Half-Life - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The game is set in a remote area of New Mexico at the Black Mesa Research Facility, a fictional complex that bears many similarities to both the Los Alamos National Laboratory and Area 51, during December of 200X (according to calendars in game and the Playstation 2 version's manual).
The game's protagonist is the theoretical physicist Gordon Freeman, a survivor of an experiment that goes horribly awry when an unexpected resonance cascade (an apparently completely fictitious occurrence; see also 1, 2) rips dimensional seams that devastate the facility.
The game tells the story by flowing into scripted sequences that are integrated as part of the game rather than as cut scene intermissions.

GameGenie.com: PC Game Reviews - Carnivores
The hunting game craze that is taking people by storm has lent to the production of several games that offer close to the same premise, find things and kill them.
The game is set up so that you can choose from several different areas to hunt in and one specific species of dinosaur to hunt.
The computer running the game was a K6 266 with 64 MB of RAM, which is not the latest, but certainly nothing to sneeze at.

Crossbow on the other hand can be used with either the light gun or the joystick controller.
Music in a game like this would distract you from what is most important, which is the sound of the critters that come after you.

 The Game
One thing that has not changed for these six games is the objective: Unite the whole of China through brute force or diplomacy though i believe many would agree with me that it is around 96% brute force.
Execution of orders and plans is a radical change from all the Rtk games whereby you are given a number of "Hearts" based on your status and territories instead of the availability of the number of officers you have.
Other than this downside and the ficticous ending (if you don't mind) the game is enjoyable with the interesting converations and narrations for the story plot as well as experiencing the victories and defeats Cao Cao had in his life.

Card gaming, in its current incarnation, is fairly new, having only been born in 1993 and exploding since.
Since designing a card game is much cheaper than a board game or an RPG (way less production costs) and many of them are spin-offs of an existing license anyway, it's faster and cheaper to get them to market; which means lots of companies have dived in with both feet.
In the fall of 2000, I was hip-deep in an addiction to Diablo II.

With all the different types of games around, one that never seems to get boring is hacking up zombies with axes and blowing their limbs off with a shotgun.
People that like to invite their friends over for a gaming session will be happy to know that there's a multiplayer mode in the game that allows 1 to 4 players in a co-operative mode.
One of the best effects in the game has to be when you're running through the water in places like the sewers, it really looks great.

Anyway, this game in the arcades really facinated me. It was the first game I had seen with semi violent content in it.

Specifically, the crossbow has four different kinds of bolts and the staff has three varieties.
Game play is a bit odd as you don't know when you have "defeated" an enemy that you are facing.

The dark king of Argool, named Ligar (a tall green lion headed beast with two dragon heads coming out of him), has stolen the door to peace and the only hope for the end of his reign of terror is Rygar, a hero risen from the dead to bring peace to the land.
One of the particular fun things about this game was that you could jump off the side of the floating castle and get to a another castle, an oddly constructed mass of nothing that the programmers strangely included.
It is a greatly unappreciated game that has not received its due place in the world of classic video games.

Of these, 8 of them are original dedicated machines, 0 of them are conversions in which game circuit boards have been plaed in another game cabinet, and 4 of them are only circuit boards which a collector could put into a generic case if desired.
Some common games show up as very rare here because collectors don't want them (they are common because arcade operatos might be sitting on tons of them in warehouses), while some fairly scarce games are grabbed by collectors every time they show up.
Additionally, some games made in the last 5 years are still making money for operators and are thus not yet affordable to the typical collector.

 Crossbow : Nostalgia
Unlike most shooting games, your job was not destruction, but rather protection, guiding a party of warriors and magical beings toward a climactic battle with the Master of Darkness.
The paths didn’t change from game to game, but neither were they clear until you’d taken them once, causing many players to take their parties in frustrating and dangerous circles before finally finding the right way into the Master of Darkness’ dungeon lair.
The game failed to inspire a wave of quest-based shooters, as games like Vs. Duck Hunt and Operation Wolf shifted the emphasis either to quick-draw marksmanship or out-and-out mayhem, but the 90’s picked up the torch that Crossbow had lit, igniting an ongoing wave of hits like Time Crisis and House of the Dead.

 BBC - h2g2 - Half-Life - the Game
The main reason for winning the award is because it is arguably the first game of its genre to involve a fairly believable plot, which computer games of Id Software such as Doom were notorious for leaving out completely.
The only other game noted to have such a compelling plot would be System Shock 2, and it erred by not keeping ahead of the curve in graphics.
This is a game trying to create a believable experience, and as such, there are no levels per se, but there are divisions in progress to mark another theme.
