Fable (video game) -   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-03)
An extended version of the game, Fable: The Lost Chapters, was released for both Windows, Mac OS X and Xbox on September of 2005 (although the Windows and Mac version was leaked by a warez group in August).
The game centers on the only playable character, a male referred to by his title or only as the hero (all of the members of the Heroes' Guild, even those who are evil, are referred to as "Heroes").
That quest was never implemented in the original XBOX version of the game although some of the elements of the quest are still in the game such as the letter written by her dead sister.

It was most famous for its lightgun games, beginning with the game Crossbow.
These games were also the first to feature fully digitized sound, for all sound effects and for music (far more advanced then any other games up until the 16 bit generation).

The game takes place in a set of four Volumes, which can be played in any order (even though the story makes more sense when you play them in order).
The game gives you specific instructions on how to set your lighting for the game, and when played in a dark room, the pre-rendered scenes and unique lighting truly shine.
The gore factor is pretty high in the game, especially when it involves body parts you carry leaving extensive blood trails and little imps doing back flips even though you've just blown off their head.

Armed with a crossbow - controlled with a fancy light gun mounted on the arcade cabinet - your job is to pick off any threats, be they nasty critters, falling projectiles, snipers, or what have you, and allow your friends to pass safely.
Y'know, I had to play Crossbow on MAME to remember what the heck the game was about...but once I did, I remembered that it was a very influential game on me at the time it was released.
The novel concept of picking which game screen you'd explore next by shooting a representative icon on a menu-style screen was very cool, as was the watered-down, vaguely-DandD-ish atmosphere of the whole thing.

The game plays on the basic principle that you are protector for your friends.
Also there is no 2 player mode which makes sense in a game like this but still the ole round robin method of two player gaming could have been done for some competition.
If you like the arcade version or like any game of this type of genre, my advice is that you own a 7800 and you don't have this game...then you don't really own a 7800.

It was "Game Over" for folks who pushed the joystick in the wrong direction or if the timing was off by a second or two.
Similar to games like "Tomb Raider," "Dragon's Lair 3D" is considered a "platformer" as the emphasis of this third-person perspective or "over-the-shoulder" title is on running and jumping, combat against bad guys and some simple puzzle solving.
Visually, the developers at Dragonstone Software (www.dragonstone.com) obviously tried to match the classic 1983 game by using the now-popular "cel-shading" graphic technique, but "Dragon's Lair 3D" isn't nearly as attractive as its forerunner, not to mention the animation is stiff and choppy.

Borland argues that video game violence is simply a form of problem solving, and that the brain treats it as such.

Oddworld games have an undeniably quirky sense of humour, feature non-standard puzzle-oriented gameplay, and usually tend to purvey a strange kind of leftist, socialist dogma (previous games in the franchise have made subtle statements against consumerism and have been centered around workers who rebel against their evil employers).
The game play is fun and well designed, but it’s also the stuff of standard action adventure games.
The last three or four hours of the game are outstanding, providing the kind of peculiar, semi-socialist narrative the franchise is known for.
