NationMaster - Encyclopedia: Bay area thrash   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-03)
Teutonic Thrash metal is a type of Thrash metal, primarily from Germany.
Thrash metal is a subgenre of heavy metal music, one of the extreme metal subgenres, that is characterised by its high speed and aggression.
The origins of thrash metal are generally traced to the late 1970s and early 1980s, when a number of bands began incorporating the sound of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal [1] with elements of hardcore punk (in particular its drum tempos), creating a new genre and developing into a separate movement from punk.

 Crossover thrash - Definition, explanation
One of the fist bands to be cited of having mixed predominant elements of hardcore punk and metal could be considered to be Suicidal Tendencies, who's debut album, released in 1983 blurred a line between the two genres.
Some other of the earliest bands are noted as being D.R.I (with their albums Dealing With it and Crossover), Corrosion of Conformity (Animosity) and Stormtroopers of Death (Speak English Or Die).
The style went on to include several other bands in the late 80s, some include Cryptic Slaughter, The Accused, Wehrmacht, Attitude Adjustment, Crumbsuckers, Ludichrist, Nuclear Assault and Hirax.

Crossover thrash - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Crossover Thrash was a term used in the 1980s to described the first wave of bands that mixed hardcore punk (or more specifically the part of it called thrashcore) and thrash metal.
One of the first bands to be cited of having mixed predominant elements of hardcore punk and metal could be considered to be Suicidal Tendencies, whose debut album, released in 1983 blurred a line between the two genres.
An interesting note is that several key thrash bands have made songs which may be considered crossover thrash.

Vancouver's ML7 are proponents of thrash as played by bands hailing from both east and west coasts of america during the vibrant 80's topped with the added touches of recent 'deathed up' sounds by Testament and Agent Steel.
Musically, ML7 tend to walk a fine line between mid-tempo thrash and death metal lite, but what makes the band is their merciless flirtations with groove within their songs.
The lack of being able to put a finger on their sound may be more of a distraction than an asset, but everything considered, that's not too bad.

Madness of music turned against itself like the disintegration of sense into military industrial suicide in the 1980s, thrash churns up primal angst with short simple blasting songs and charged post-hardcore anticontrol emotion.
Formed of blisteringly fast hardcore and metal riffs, this music resisted society and suggested through straightforward logic and basic songs that another way must be found.
Thrash and its next generation carryover, grindcore, are more humanitarian than death or fl metal.

Electrical Audio :: View topic - genre: "crossover thrash"
The Crossover idea meant a lot to me at the time (late eighties / early nineties), as the scene I got involved in was constituted mainly of metal heads and hardcore kids.
I think the strength of hardcore is the personal side of it, the almost (dare I say) emo aspect of it, where songs are about things in the singer's life that mean a lot to him, personal shit.
I'll take thrash over hardcore, purely for the musical side of it.

Another segment is the whole crossover movement with albums from D.R.I. Cro-Mags, Cryptic Slaughter where they were melding Metal with Hardcore and at this point were currently working on the Clash Of The Titans which was kind of the epitome of where Thrash hit it's heights.
To some that was the end of Thrash for the intent purpose of it growing and reaching it's peak, of course we know it didn't die, it just went far underground.
From there we do pick up where Pantera takes off and carries the flag for the 90's and of course where some of today's bands get their influence and some of the older bands reflect back on why it was so important.

That being said, there have been numerous bands called Aversion over the years, and this in particular is the little known California crossover act that was around predominantly in the early-90's.
I never bothered with their third disc, but this one's significantly stronger than their debut, offering up 12 tracks in 34 minutes that range from fast and energetic crossover thrash to quirky midpaced metal riffing - generally with a snotty mix of yelling/singing that kicks out some wickedly fast vocal patterns.
Of course, as with most west coast acts of this style, the band definitely tossed in some humorous/lighthearted elements at times, but that wasn't their focus at all.

First of all, this is crossover thrash that I haven't heard (or heard done this well) since the late 80's.

This very quick record (17 tracks in a mere 14 minutes!) is much in the vein of their last demo, and some of those tracks appear here in re-recorded form, so the style is a solid mix of fast hardcore, crossover thrash, and some hints of punk rock as well.
The vocals are somewhat high-pitched yells that are very energetic with plenty of awesome vocal patterns, working well with the speed of most of the music.

Crumbsuckers : Life of Dreams - Listen, Review and Buy at ARTISTdirect
Listeners familiar with the East Coast thrash/hardcore crossover scene of the '80s generally agree that Crumbsuckers played an important role in defining their subgenre's reckless, metallic sound.
Despite the Metallica-like "Trapped" and hyper-polka-beat novelty of songs like "Super Tuesday" that would fit on any S.O.D. recording, there are some defining moments on Life of Dreams that extend beyond Crumbsuckers' thrash predilections.
So even though Crumbsuckers permanently won over many a metal/punk crossover listener with this 1986 offering, there just isn't enough strong material to rate it a classic.

The hardcore scene in Syracuse, New York was thriving as much as the hardcore scene in Manhattan, according to the members comprising Brand New Sin, who maintain their style of biker rock grew from the post-hardcore explosion which began in the early nineties.
There is little evidence of hardcore music on their self-titled freshman effort but if you consider that Corrosion of Conformity, who were a leading voice in the crossover movement, have made a name for themselves playing music similar to theirs that makes things a little more valid.
