Croyde - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Croyde is a village in the north-west of Devon south of Woolacombe and near the towns of Braunton and Ilfracombe.
Croyde was home to a Priory, and today’s Thatched Barn was once used by Monks to stable their animals, so it has always been a watering hole.
Croyde is a delightful coastal community of colour-washed thatched cottages with a little stream that meanders its way through the village to a beautiful sandy bay.

Croyde, North Devon - Surfing Croyde
Croyde is a pleasant village near the beach in North Devon.
The waves that roll on to the beach at Croyde are known for the high-quality sets that sometimes emerge.
Compared to some places, I'd say that the surfers at Croyde tend to be pretty civilised, not too many disputes over ownership of the waves; it is a sad fact that even an activity as harmless as surfing can be overwhelmed by some spurious concept of "ownership".
