The band's debut for Earache, Scars Of The Crucifix, was recorded at Morrisound Studio in Tampa with producer Neil Kernon.
Soon thereafter, the guitarists sued their former band members and the band's label Earache Records accusing the former of misinformation and the latter of irregularities with the royalty contract.
The band’s Canadian tour had to be cancelled when the members were unable to gain access to the country due to visa and past criminal record difficulties.

Crucifix basically follow in the footsteps of country mates Exmortem and Koldborn in that they copy a lot of riffs and structures from other bands and they put them all together yet somehow end up with nothing to show for it in the end.
The band claims to be influenced by Hate Eternal, Malevolent Creation and Unholy Ghost, but there is basically no elements from any of those bands' sound to be found throughout the five-track demo.
Crucifix has been around for more than 10 years and are still haven't grown past the demo band stage and after listening to Where Angels Rot, it's safe to say they aren't going to be progressing beyond it any time soon.

However, since too many bands with long history tend to soften the style, especially the bands from Europe, when experienced musicians feel more comfortable playing more brutal stuff, I have to praise their spirit.
If the band used them as a foundation of the style, it would be a disastrous decision, but only as the additions they diversify the material pretty well.
The most essential elements of the band’s style are definitely taken from the classical death metal school.

A crucifix had been increasingly used in the Western church after the Eucharist is viewed as the embodiment of Christ in the 13th century.
Some cross scholars have placed the use of a crucifix on the altar to the 6th century, when the Council of Tours declared that the Eucharist should be placed underneath the cross on the altar.

Scars of the Crucifix has been touted by the band, label, and fans as a "return to form" for the mighty Deicide...
Scars of the Crucifix is a combination of the band's strengths: Hollering semi-melodic leads, bassist/vocalist Glen Benton's multi-tracked/polarized growls (sounding more demonic here than ever), and odd time signatures that switch between blast beats and grooves.
As much as Scars of the Crucifix torches the ears, one can't help but wonder how much better it would sound with the beefy low end from Legion or Once Upon the Cross flown in.
