Crusader Rabbit - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Crusader Rabbit was the first animated series produced especially for television.
Despite the name of the character and his appearance as a horse-riding knight in armor in the title sequence, the series had nothing to do with religious crusades, but were very short and usually satirical episodic adventures in the form of the familiar movie serial, with a cliffhanger ending to each episode.
The voice of Crusader Rabbit was provided by Lucille Bliss in the original series, and Ge Ge Pearson in the revived series.

 Crusader Rabbit
CRUSADER RABBIT originated in the mind of Alex Anderson, a nephew of Terrytoon Studios founder Paul Terry.
He wasn't trying to develop a rabbit or a tiger character at first, just trying to find personalities that were the opposite of their appearance. He envisioned a character with a strong aggressive personality in a body which audiences would assume belonged to a shy, passive character.
The CRUSADER RABBIT pilot was about Crusader and Rags journey to Texas where hunters were making life miserable for the Texas jack rabbits.

Television's first cartoon series, Crusader Rabbit, embodied everything bad that came to be associated with TV animation.
It was quickly and imperfectly produced on a budget that wouldn't have bought lunch at Disney, it repeated the same episodes over and over, and its animation was limited almost to the point of stasis.
The first glimmerings of Crusader Rabbit came when Alexander Anderson Jr., a nephew and employee of animation mogul Paul Terry, tried to interest the studio in producing cartoons for the fledgling television medium.
