Tears - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Crying or weeping: The third category, generally referred to as crying or weeping, is increased lacrimation due to strong emotional stress, depression or physical pain.
Most mammals will produce tears in response to extreme pain or other stimuli, but crying as an emotional reaction is considered by many to be a uniquely human phenomenon, possibly due to humans' advanced self-awareness.
In nearly all cultures, crying is seen as a specific act associated with tears trickling down the cheeks and accompanied by characteristic sobbing sounds.

AllRefer Health - Crying in Infancy: Why infants cry
Crying in infancy is described as a high-pitched, unpleasant sound made by infants in response to certain situations.
At times, infants may cry for seemingly no reason at all, but in general crying is a response to something -- it may just be that parents are unable to figure out what is bothering the infant at that time.
While almost everyone recognizes that infants cry for many reasons and that crying is a normal part of infancy, the stress and anxiety that parents experience in response to frequent or constant crying is considerable.

Their crying is of two sorts; either stubborn and domineering, or querulous and whining.
Their crying is very often a contention for mastery, and an open declaration of their insolence or obstinacy; when they have not the power to obtain their desire, they will, by their clamour and sobbing, maintain their title and right to it.
Sometimes their crying is the effect of pain or true sorrow, and a bemoaning themselves under it.

 Childer - Volume 11, Issue 4
Children cry and that is the way it is. The problem confronting the parent seeking to establish a biblical pattern in the home is what, if anything, to do about it.
And contrary to the “all crying expresses an emotional need and therefore cannot be questioned” parent (and their name is Legion), most crying by children should be disciplined and directed in a godly way.
When parents discipline their children in their crying, they are not creating warped and repressed head cases, but rather training and discipling the emotional lives of their children in a way that fits with the rest of their training.

There you have the basic science behind crying, a branch of inquiry that in literary scholar Tom Lutz's view ought to but does not bear the name "lacrimology" or even "lamentology." Lutz considers the natural history of weeping, writing vigorously and accessibly about the mysterious workings of the human body.
But more, he looks into the cultural rules that surround crying, especially those in Western societies that only in the last few decades have established norms whereby women are supposed to cry freely in times of stress and trouble, whereas men are not.
His examination of gender stereotypes and the traditional division of emotional "labor" in our society, according to which women cry and men restrain themselves, is especially provocative.
