A cubicle desk forms an integral whole with the five or six foot high partitions that separate it from the neighbors.
The cubicle desk is a much reviled and often mocked piece of office furniture in our modern society in large part because of the expectations it provokes but rarely fulfils.
While the makers of cubicle desks usually employ proprietary standards for their fasteners and accessory hooks, this has not stopped the makers of small scale desktop accessories from producing and marketing myriads of pen holders, magazine racks, and other items which are made to fit the most popular brands of cubicle desk partitions.

Desk - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
For instance, an Armoire desk is a desk built within a large wardrobe-like cabinet usually having the height of a man or a woman.
The desk forms we are familiar with in this beginning of the millennium were born mostly in the 17th and 18th centuries.
The ergonomic desk of the last decades is the newest addition to a long list of desk forms, but in a way it is only a refinement of the mechanically complex drawing table or drafting table of the end of the 18th century.

An Armoire desk is a desk built within a large cabinet usually having the height of a tall man or a small woman, or anything in between.
This kind of armoire desk is a direct descendant of the antique Rolltop desk which was common in corporate or government offices three or four generations ago, since it provides a fast and efficient way to store or hide current work.
This kind of armoire desk is a morphological descendant of the famous Wooton desk by its size and by the necessity to constantly store papers to shut it.

The most common form of contemporary computer desk is a simple variant of the Ergonomic desk, in the sense that it has, at the very least, an adjustable keyboard tray and sufficient desktop space for handwriting by a single user.
This type protection is not attached to the desk but is included in walls and moveable panels surrounding the desk, Cubicle.

Be wary of having very long desks with developers strung out along them, it hampers communication (as you can't speak directly to most of your teammates without speaking over or physically barging in on someone else), and feels very soulless.
Cubicle environments and excessive managerial oversight prevent us from having those moments of "spacing out" or relaxed contemplation that are absolutely essential for the quality of our work and our lives.
The desks were arranged like a star, with each of us getting right angle piece, so we faced each other and had plenty of space on each side for piling papers etc. The most important thing was that we got along.
