Splendid Magazine reviews Logan Bros.: Cuddlecore Galore
The problem is, it may be too much of a great record; its 28 songs (two of them unlisted) push it to the 73-plus minute mark, making Cuddlecore Galore an exhausting experience.
Listen closely and you'll also catch nods to the futuristic pop of the late seventies, when preconceptions of gender roles in rock music were superseded by a refreshingly democratic, non-exploitative, non-patriarchal stance.
Cuddlecore Galore is not an opportunistic assault on the past by people who have nothing to say to the present; it's a careful, post-modern homage to the cultural roots the Bros. claim as their own.

WMWC Forum / Genre names that make you wince, or worse
It took me a few minutes to overcome the urge to vomit after reading that, and then I assumed it was just something the band made up to describe themselves; but a quick google search said otherwise.
"Cuddlecore bands focused on childhood fascinations like fluffy animals, nature, candy, and the kind of love that doesn't go wrong."
Yeah from what I gather, "twee" and "cuddlecore" are closely related.

San Francisco - News - Elemental Pee - sfweekly.com   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-13)
Partial fault lies with Pee's label, March Records in Chicago, home of typical cuddlecore bands like Godzuki and Holiday, which proudly popularized the term two years ago, long before Pee was on its roster.
The term was partly a joke, partly a marketing ploy designed to call attention to the testosterone deficiency of certain bands.
Still, sometimes even irritating record-store scribes who write minireviews of labels rather than records manage to squeeze a drop of truth from their Sharpies.

cub   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-13)
People either ate up their cuddlecore shtick or were repulsed by the very same antics.
With the release of Box of Hair, cub's third full length album, the band seems to be consciously trying to abandon their patented cuteness, perhaps so that they can end this love `em/hate `em phenomenon that plagues them.
Cub followers will find these songs out of character for their cuddlecore heroines, and fans of punk rock will probably only find them mediocre and unimaginative.

 LMX American Jitters Reviews
If her former life as the queen of cuddlecore taught Lisa Marr anything, it’s that there’s no joy in being pigeonholed.
“The whole cuddlecore thing started as a tongue-in-cheek joke, but it became a rock that was attached to our leg, dragging us into the river,” says Marr from her adopted home in Los Angeles.
The one-time queen of cuddlecore is in no danger of being pigeonholed.

Spiderbait seems more at home bludgeoning the listener with guitars reminescent of dragsters, or drumming that borders on the nihilistic, proving that the dynamic drummer is not dead.
Vocal duties are shared between the drummer and the female bassist, who, on tracks such as "Jesus," and "I Gotta Know," turns Spiderbait into a cuddlecore band gone horribly, horribly, wrong with wonderful results.
Spiderbait's versatility is also complemented by strong song writing; "Jesus" works as a multi-level witticism, and not since a young Jello Biafra put pen to paper has a band dared to tackle such difficult, yet timely, questions as

An all-grrl trio, cub has been slathering indie rock with its tooth-rot-sweet, pop-with-a-tiny-bit-of-punk hybrid for the past four years, inventing (and later disowning) its own subgenre ("cuddlecore") along the way.
We played with the Muffs and the Queers last year, and it was interesting because a lot of people were coming to see the Queers and just happened to see us by mistake, or whatever.
And I think they were surprised, but they also got into the music for what it was on their own merit, without the cuddlecore bullshit or the happy girlie-band hype.

Jeffery Underhill and Honeybunch are a somewhat seminal band in terms of simple, intimate American indie pop -- their smooth, minimal three-piece pop approach and independent aesthetics served as a template for countless other scenes and projects.
The surprising thing is that while many of the indie-pop bands to follow played into the "twee" or "cuddlecore" labels with precious, juvenile cutesiness, Underhills songwriting is earnest and unironic, and manages to be more emotionally effective tha… Read More »

He tossed back some good points about L.A. heads being far worse at soul-sucking scene-ism (along with some righteous color schemes to describe these hipsters like “cuddlecore pink, crybaby blue, and ironic rainbow”).

Being held up as icons of cuteness leaves Cub in a quandary.
The band has been heralded as the leaders of the emerging indie-pop subgenre called "cuddlecore," a style of jangly pop infused with idyllic, sometimes childish images--think Shonen Knife and Pest.
True, Cub has played into that cuddly image, singing songs about parties and picnics, and even getting Archie comics kingpin Dan DeCarlo to do the cover art on Betti-Cola.
