This meal is typical of Eritrean and Ethiopian cuisine.
The main traditional foods in Eritrean cuisine are zigni (meat with chile peppers), shiro (pea soup), injera (flatbread made from teff, wheat, or sorghum), and hilbet (paste made from legumes, mainly lentil and faba bean).
Eritrean cuisine is virtually the same as the Cuisine of Ethiopia, given the shared history of the two countries.

What I did not like is the fact that the writer has generalised the Marocan cuisine for the whole of North Africa or the Magreb.
It is a fascinating look at the politics of rebel Eritrea and the collateral damage of warfare in the Horn of Africa.
This was the first book that i bought one a recent trip to Eritrea and although it may be bias in favor of Eritrea, and the EPLF it is rightly so to counter act all of the Eithiopian propraganda that the west gets.
