  The Tripods by Ken Freeman
“The Tripods” was a revolutionary cult TV series by the BBC, based on the science-fiction books by John Christopher.
Unlike Christopher Franke's electronic work for the modern-day science-fiction series Babylon 5, Freeman's music - or at least the music for the first series (tracks 2 to 16) - relies to a lesser degree on atmospherical sounds and background noises, but rather on clearly identifiable, inventive melodies.
The original music of the series was remastered for this release in 1994, but still sounds somewhat “dated” in a sense.

boreders - Manimal, the cult TV series
The result was that the same sequences were seen again and again, even though the series was relatively short.
Ultimately the people backing the series realised that the cost to produce the show, and keep it filled with fresh special effects to maintain viewer interest, was simply too great.
Whereas the only hopes for the resurrection of this kind of series are frequently through re-runs, video releases and fan sites, the fact that - some 15 years on - Manimal managed a guest appearance in another show seems to indicate that even a short-run, cancelled series is not necessarily forgotten by the television cognoscenti.

 Cult Television
Exploring the definition and appeal of cult TV from Emma Peel to Buffy.
A television series is tagged with the label “cult” by the media, advertisers, and network executives when it is considered edgy or offbeat, when it appeals to nostalgia, or when it is considered emblematic of a particular subculture.
In Cult Television leading scholars examine such shows as The X-Files; The Avengers; Doctor Who; Babylon Five; Star Trek; Xena, Warrior Princess; and Buffy the Vampire Slayer to determine the defining characteristics of cult television and map the contours of this phenomenon within the larger scope of popular culture.

boreders - James Bond Jnr, the cult TV cartoon series
Well, what you get is a series that fills half-an-hour of a child's time and provides some harmless entertainment for any tolerant adult.
The series also lacks any of the sparkling wit and innuendo of the Bond movies, whether because of the target age group or because the writers genuinely lacked the talent or time to come up with anything better.
Only slightly over a quarter of these episodes are available on video, though the whole series has been shown many times across the globe on various cartoon or children's channels, generally during the early morning slot.

Zap2it.com - Movie news - Gellar Hesitates Over 'Buffy' Movie
After playing "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" on the cult hit TV series for seven years, she tells Zap2it.com that making a movie of the series may disappoint fans.
Gellar, who is in the upcoming horror film "The Grudge," adds, "Part of the reason I believe that the show worked was because the story had arcs and you felt for this character and you experienced things [with her], and it wasn't a beginning, middle and end."
There already was a "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" movie released in 1992 starring Luke Perry (TV's "Beverly Hills, 90210") and Kristy Swanson ("Dude Where's My Car?") That pre-dated the series and it's part of the reason Gellar is wary of making a follow-up film.
