My first time playing with them truly was a culture shock for me, but despite that, I stuck with them.

Well, the Culture Shock Crew found ourselves engaged in a whole variety of production projects and responsibilities, changes and evolutions, both professional and personal that kept us away, but like the Phoenix of old, we are back after our hiatus.
Culture Shock was formed out of the need for "mix-friendly" versions of alternative radio songs that we all know and love so much, yet cannot or will not play in a nightclub because they are, by definition, not "danceable" or "mixable." Culture Shock has solved this dilemma.
In typical Culture Shock style, we made this song mix friendly (we researched the hell out of the instruments they used at the time) and modernized it just enough to give a 22+ year-old song new life in the age of electroclash hype.

When talking with the band about there beginnings guitarist Kevin Stewart states his interests were in classic rock, but after hearing the sounds of bands like Sublime, Slightly Stoopid, and Pepper he was turned onto reggae.
The original drummer of Culture Shock, Mike Stefany is also having a hard time mixing music with family time, but Ian Blesse of Fresno fills in for them nicely when Stefany is unable to make it.
The only sign of Culture Shock being a newly formed band was a pause between songs to transition to the next song and at the ending of a set.

Talk about culture shock...there are leaves on the trees here in Los Angeles, and flowers along the road, and no one’s wearing a coat because temperatures are in the 70s.
Although band members are free to enjoy the park afterwards most take early buses back to the hotel where they celebrate New Year’s on Indiana time and try to grab a few hours of sleep before a 4 a.m.
Throughout the game there’s never a moment when the band isn’t playing or cheering; and that doesn’t end with the game as the band members line the road to applaud the Boilers as team buses leave the stadium.

The band's songs were so hyped up that there was hardly a pause for breath from the start to the finish of their 40 minute set.

Their high-tempo cover of "Rocky Top" was well received and offered the horn section a chance to stretch their legs for the first time as the band began to jam a bit.
As closing time crept closer, the band unleashed one final push to the finish with their call and response classic "Soul".
