Hawaii was admitted as the 50th state of the union on August 21, 1959.

In November, I gave a lecture about Karate history in Hawaii at the Ward Warehouse in connection with a fundraising effort for the Bento To Mixed Plate Exhibit, which will be sent to Okinawa next year.
