The highest point in Maryland is Backbone Mountain, which is the southwest corner of Garrett County, near the border with West Virginia and near the headwaters of the North Branch of the Potomac.
Maryland was one of the thirteen colonies that revolted against British rule in the American Revolution, and became the seventh state admitted to the US after ratifying the new Constitution.

Cumberland is named after the son of King George II, Prince William, the Duke of Cumberland.
Cumberland was a key road, railroad and canal junction during the 1800s and at one time the second largest city in Maryland (second to the port city of Baltimore--hence its nickname "The Queen City").
In the NBC television show, The Office, a character applies for a job at a "Cumberland Mills" in Maryland, which presumably refers to the Westvaco paper company located near Cumberland, which is one of the largest private employers in the area.
