Cunedda and his forebears led the Votadini against Pictish and Irish incursions south of Hadrian's Wall.
Cunedda established himself in Wales, in the territory of the Venedoti, which would become the centre of the kingdom of Gwynedd.
Cunedda's supposed grandson Maelgwn Hir ap Cadwallon was a contemporary of Gildas, and according to the Annales Cambriae died in 547.

Cunedda Wledig (or Cunedag) hailed from Manau Gododdin, a sub-division of the greater Kingdom of Gododdin (Lothian) in modern Scotland.
Cunedda and his army probably came by sea, for it was very difficult to travel through Lancashire with its bogs, forests and large rivers.
Gruffydd ap Llywelyn (d.1244), the illegitimate son of Llywelyn ap Iorwerth and Owain Goch's father, spent much of his life in prison and was eventually to die whilst attempting to escape from incarceration.

It can be thought that Arthur was Dux, but that can only be a matter of speculation at best...
