Cuniculture is the agricultural practice of breeding and raising domestic rabbits, usually for their meat, fur, or wool.
Some people, called rabbit fanciers, practice cuniculture predominantly for show or hobby.
The small size and relative ease of handling and caring for rabbits makes cuniculture one of the few practical forms of "livestock" agricuture that suburban or even urban hobbyists can attempt.

Bt Imho, this should not be in the rabbit article so much, but in the cuniculture article.
You are quite right that the pet raising might not fit perfectly in the cuniculture article.
However I don't think the fact you don't know much about cuniculture should not be a reason not to do an article on it.

Brought to my attention by Boing Boing: The horrible story of Petey, a spokesman for the unspeakable Pel-Freez Rabbit meat company.
How the barbarity of cuniculture could be presented with such jest — feeble jest, at that — turns all of my stomachs.
At least the commentary is appropriately derisive, and some of the fan art is pretty funny, though.
