The Mountain Cur is a type of working dog used for treeing and trailing game; mainly squirrel and raccoon, but also large game.
It is a member of the Hound group and is one of several varieties of cur.
The Mountain Cur was brought to America from Europe by the settlers of the Virginia, Kentucky, and Tennessee mountains to guard the family and property, and chase and tree game.
Barking at, or baying, cattle is a characteristic of the curbreeds and is a component of the cur style.
Related to this is the expectation that a cur go to the front of the leading animal in a running group before barking, working or attempting to stop the animal and herd; cutting in to work animals behind the front runner is unacceptable.
As indicated, cur style is based on the natural behavioral traits of the dogs and the prey response of cattle when exposed to these dogs.

Cur & Feist Merchandise(Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-06)
My family and I got into Curdogs a couple of years ago with the excuse to spend more time together in the woods, which is where we like to spend our time.
A cur is a recognized breed of dog along with feist.
In the last 2 years, we have found that there are a lot of different lines of curs and feist.
They differ greatly from the Original Mountain Curs, in that 99% are born without dew-claws on their hind feet and the few that do should have them removed at birth.
The Mountain View Curs were developed by many years and generations of strict selection and line breedings starting with a strain of Original Mountain Cur.
The Mountain View Curs are known today as the purebreds and thoroughbreds of the curdog world, because of their uniformity as a breed.
This historic Ohio River Valley prowler is believed to possess a whiff of the Indian Cur's genetic smoke, in addition to the influence of hounds and herders.
The Treeing Tennessee Brindle, Stephens Stock, and the Mountain View Cur use to all be the same breed, but these have achieved enough individual identity to justify their own registering groups.
Curs are also highly possessive and protective of their family--a trait seen in Terriers and often Shepherds, but certainly not Hounds.

Most of the breeds of curdogs date back to pioneer times, and were used to help put food on the families table, as well as to be a guardian to alert their families to the approach of strangers.
A families Curdogs played a huge role in producing game for the family food, both hunting and rounding up semi-wild livestock that were "free ranging".

Welcome To Boxer CUR(Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-06)
Boxer CUR is the transportation of rescued boxers from one place to another.
In a CUR run, someone volunteers to drive a dog a certain distance where they meet another person at a prearranged place, and the second person continues to drive, meeting another person if necessary, until the dog reaches its new owner.
For these reasons, CUR runs are part of the lifeblood of canine rescue.
The cur table has be renamed to page in MediaWiki 1.5.
Note that there may be several entries with the same cur_title in the cur table, for example, Stuff and Talk:Stuff; these will differ in the cur_namespace field, though; the integer values and their corresponding names (e.g., 1="Talk") are set in the appropriate LanguageXX.php file and are also shown using variables.
Some information in the cur table relates to the last change of the article (which might well be its creation, which is indicated by cur_is_new).
For it was while suffering under great anguish of heart, the origin and reason of which are known to God, that, at the entreaty of others, I began the book in England, and finished it when an exile in Capra.
From the theme on which it was published I have called it Cur Deus Homo, and have divided it into two short books.
