The Curragh is a plain in County Kildare Ireland.
The Military College, Curragh Camp is located there, where members of the Irish Army undergo training, this was the location of the Curragh incident in 1914.
The Camp was the location of a military detention centre where civil war prisoners and, later, members and suspected members of the Irish Republican Army were interned on various occasions between the 1920s and the 1950s.

The Curragh of Kildare act of 1961 repealed the 1868 act and parts of the 1870 act, and allowed for the enclosure of parts of the Curragh, and the attendant extinguishment of sheep grazing rights.

The Head Bailiff may refuse to admit sheep on to the Lands unless satisfied that the sheep are entitled, by virtue of the Curragh of Kildare Act, 1870, and the Act of 1961, to be admitted.
A person shall not (unless authorised by the Minister to do so) raise, take or carry away from the Curragh any sand, gravel, stone, clay, turf or other substance or dig for the same on or in the Curragh or otherwise disturb the surface of the soil of the Curragh.
These bye-laws supersede the bye-laws made on 4th of December, 1868, under the Curragh of Kildare Act, 1868, and provide for the regulation of the use and management of the Curragh.
