Parents who pride themselves on their penmanship often bemoan their children's cursive -- particularly when they can't read sloppy notes or notice that their kids increasingly turn in homework via e-mail.
"Cursive was so character-defining when I was in school," says Amy Greene, whose 9-year-old daughter and 11-year-old son prefer keyboards to cursive in their Palo Alto classrooms.

I started writing the morning message in cursive the first day of school so they could hardly wait to write in cursive too.
None of us picture those words in cursive although we all write in cursive and went through many spelling tests as youngsters which required us to write in cursive.
I don't discourage those who want to use cursive and will briefly point out errors the individual is making in his/her attempts and demonstrate correct form.
