The Curtiss A-3 was an attack version of the O-1 Falcon two-seat observation aircraft of the US Army Air Service.
The Curtiss design took second place to the Douglas XO-2 in the 1924 observation plane contest.
Attack Falcons equipped all four of the Air Corps ground attack squadrons, the 8th, 13th, and 19th Squadrons of the 3rd Attack Group at Fort Crockett, Texas and the 26th Attack Squadron based in Hawaii.

 Curtiss A-8
By 1930, however, the era of the military biplane was clearly nearing its end, and the Army Air Corps initiated a contest for the next generation of attack planes which would be all-metal, low-winged monoplanes designed specifically for the attack role.
The Curtiss entry in the contest was the XA-8.
The A-8 was the first Curtiss tactical monoplane built for the U.S. Army, all previous designs by this company for the US Army having been biplanes.

The fact is Curtiss had never flown that plane as a tractor and when he took off, it leaped into the air alarmingly.
There is contention over Curtiss' international claim as Henri Fabre had accomplished a water take-off in his Hydroavion canard monoplane on 3/28/10, at Martigues, France, a feat documented by a photograph and an eyewitness report that Fabre's machine rose to about 60' above the surface for a distance of about 1,600'.

From here one follows the normal course of model construction.  Add the lower wings followed by the tailpieces.  After that the model is painted, and then the addition of the final pieces.  I will naturally replace all wing struts since I don’t trust resin wing struts.  However, I normally don’t replace the undercarriage struts.
Unfortunately, here is where I have my biggest complaint with the kit — the packaging.  Everything is packaged in two zip-lock bags, one for the major parts, the other bag containing all the smaller details.  This
