Cut Bank Creek is a tributary of the Marias River, approximately 75 mi (123 km) long, in northwestern Montana in the United States.
It rises in the Rocky Mountains in Glacier National Park at the continental divide and flows ENE onto the foothills and plains of the Blackfeet Indian Reservation, then southeast, past Cut Bank.
In southeastern Glacier County, approximately 12 mi (19 km) southeast of Cut Bank, it joins the Two Medicine River to form the Marias.

Cut Bank had it's start in the fall of 1889 when the Railroad was working it's way westward across Montana.
The results were returned to Cut Bank after their March meeting and the petition had passed 26 to 21.
Cut Bank continued to do quite well until May of 1930 when a large field of gas and oil was uncovered in the area.

The following is a description of the events that occurred during Meriwether Lewis' investigation of the Marias River and Cut Bank Creek area.
They crossed the Teton River and followed the Marias River to the point where the Two Medicine River and the Cut Bank Creek come together to form the Marias.
The actual site wasn't discovered until 1964 by two Cut Bank Boy Scout leaders (Ben Epstein and Robert H. Anderson), who used the directions and descriptions contained in Lewis's journal.

Artist's rendition in the mid-1850's of Hellgate, the defile where the river of the same name cuts a passage through a spur of mountains near present Missoula, Mont. Lewis and his party passed through the region in July 1806 en route to the Marias River on the return from the Pacific.
In the distance, Lewis saw that the creek curved toward the mountains to his southwest, and knew he had reached the northernmost point of the Marias system.
This camp was the northernmost of the expedition and only a few miles west of the place on Cut Bank Creek that represented the northernmost point attained.
