Craig Montoya and Scott Cuthbert answered the add and so Everclear was born.
They recorded their first album, World of Noise, in a basement for $400 and it was originally intended to be a demo tape to be released to clubs, etc. Later in 1993 it was released as the bands first album by Tim/Kerr records and rereleased afterwards by Capitol records.
Soon after, Scott Cuthbert was kicked out of the band for violating Art's no drug policy and Greg Eklund, upon hearing Scott was kicked out, tracked Art down and after an informal audition, became part of the band.

This version was dubbed the "speed metal version" of Sparkle, I know it's a faster version of Sparkle, but my ears seem to be missing the speed metal sound in this song...but that doesn't take away from it being a good song by any means.
Listening to the song reminds you, or at least it does with me, how powerful of a word lame really is. Not the slang lame, but the true meaning of the word that Art speaks of in the song.
This was before the band had signed with Tim/Kerr records, back when Scott Cuthbert was the band's drummer.
