Cuvette Ouest region, which lies on the border with Gabon, has been experiencing Ebola hemorrhagic fever epidemics during this period of the year since 2001.
The health and population ministry in a letter to the WHO office in Congo has requested health kits for a team of epidemiologists it plans to send to the Cuvette Ouest region, over 900 km outside here, to study the outbreak.
The ministry said the first five victims were members of the same family who had eaten boar meat, while two nurses who were providing them treatment later passed on.

According to Damaze Bozongo, director general of the Health Ministry, since December 2 no further deaths had been registered in either Mbomo or Mbanza, two villages that were among the worst-affected in Cuvette Ouest, 800km north of the capital, Brazzaville.
