		The Apache Canyon quadrangle is in the eastern part of the Cuyama 30-minute by 60-minute quadrangle and is largely part of an erosionally dissected terrain known as the Cuyama badlands at the east end of Cuyama Valley.
		The largest fold is the broad Cuyama syncline cored by the Morales Formation in the south half of the quadrangle; this fold extends west-northwest to the Cuyama River (Frakes, 1959; Dibblee, 1982; Ellis and others, 1993).
		This rotation, which presumably occurred in response to right-lateral shear between the Pacific and North American plates, probably accompanied part or all of the deformation observed in the Apache Canyon quadrangle although the precise tectonic and chronologic relations between deformation and rotation are unknown.
