Cyamopsis tetragonolobus is an annual plant, grown in arid regions of India as a food crop for animals.
Guar gum is used as a thickener in cosmetics, sauces, salad dressings, as an agent in ice cream that prevents ice crystals from forming, and as a fat substitute that adds the "mouth feel" of fat.
This is produced from most advanced process technology by hydroxypropylation of Guar Gum which is derived from the endosperm of Guar Seed (Cyamopsis tetragonolobus).

From 12 to 52 months old, 12 male Murrah buffalo calves, 116-122 kg, were fed on guar (Cyamopsis tetragonoloba) meal (GM) + wheat straw ad libitum (group 1) or groundnut cake (GNC) + wheat straw ad libitum (group 2) to provide metabolizable energy 50:50 from concentrate and roughage.
Blood luteinizing hormone (LH) concentration was higher in group 1 than group 2 from 36-41 months but at 50-52 months old LH in both groups was increased.
