Cycas revoluta was cultivated in Tokyo, but the seeds were not formed, as Tokyo was a little cold for fertihzation.

The sago or "King Sago" (Cycas revoluta Thunberg) is a member of the Cycadaceae or cycad family of the gymnosperms.
A fossil specimen, Cycas fujiiana, is very similar to Cycas revoluta and dates to Eocene deposits, 34 to 55 million years ago.
Cycas revoluta is native to Satsuma, Mitsuhama Ito, and the Ryukyu Islands south of Japan.

I guess that many readers will be familiar with 'The Sago Palm', Cycas revoluta, which, of course, is not a true palm at all but a member a plant family of ancient lineage: the Cycads.

There are other species of Cycas that look similar to the Sago, but this species is easily identified once you become familiar with it.
But, if there are no male Cycas nearby and you didn’t artificially pollinate the cone, then the chances are that your seeds are no good.

This handsome evergreen plant is neither a palm as it is often referred to as "Sago Palm" or fern, but is a primitive, cone-bearing plant that is related to conifers and requires both male and female to produce seed.
