	Cyclefly - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		Cyclefly were an alternative rock band from Ireland.
		Two full-length albums were released over Cyclefly's career, Generation Sap in 1999, and Crave in 2002, as well as the now extremely rare and hard to find Dogabone EP and various singles.
		The band had a cult underground following across the UK, Ireland and the US, and was famous amongst fans for lead singer Declan O'Shea's wild on-stage persona and intense live presence.

		But like many others, Cyclefly, a United Nations of sorts in music circles, cannot be dismissed as simply "rock" as there's more going on which borrows from modern technical prowess first noticeable on "Whore," which clocks in fourth, but it's the one before it "Supergod" which puts Cyclefly's advancements in a class all their own.
		Obviously Cyclefly are proponents of that oft-ignored logic that classic bands are built not on two or three hit singles and a hit album or two only to be forgotten later but on an entire recording that will stand the test of time and define what a true classic represents.
		Cyclefly began in 1995 after Nono, Christian and Jean Michel moved to Cok, a coastal town on the southwest of Ireland, where they caught Declan singing in pubs and were instantly impressed by his onstage charisma and voice.

		The band doesn’t have to be spewing razor-sharp, biting songs screaming of the world’s end to invoke its vision in the manner of death metal; its confidence and crystal-clear vision provide what an army of metal-head guitarists never could: conviction.
		Songs like "Crawl Down" and "Following Yesterday" simultaneously hint at both the supernatural as well as the profane with an almost William Gibson-like merger of the two; for Cyclefly the lines separating mankind, technology and the metaphysical are blurry and poorly drawn, giving its songs a truly cyberpunk edge.

		Formed in 1995 and with the excellent 1999 debut 'Generation Sap' under their belt, Cyclefly sit roughly halfway between Korn's heavy metal sound and the more conventional melodies of nineties indie - lead singer Declan's tinny voice is reminiscent of Placebo's Brian Moloko, yet with a Gatling gun delivery and more venom.

		Once the song “Crave” is over Cyclefly make the move right into another mellow track called “Drive”.
		There are dark spells on Crave too but for the most part, this album is up to commercial standards and if things go well Cyclefly should end up being played on the radio.
